PIZZA OVEN
As part of the garden design for a gregarious family with teenagers I suggested an outdoor cooking and entertaining area including a barbecue and the ultimate foodie must-have, a wood fired pizza oven. This would be sited in a sunny area of the garden which also enjoyed the evening sunshine. To distract from the wedge-shaped nature of the plot I suggested a circular design for this key feature, to be built in rendered block work, with a stone-like worktop and brick-clad oven with pretty detail around the door. The area has a lovely, relaxing Mediterranean feel and once the planting gets established will be an even more delightful spot in which to relax and entertain into the evening, lighting having been installed.
The pizza oven had to be carefully assembled, insulated and installed. Then it needed to be brought up to temperature steadily prior to its first use – photo of the family’s first delicious pizza below – they cook in minutes! We were all delighted with the results and the family use their new outdoor kitchen frequently and for much of the year.
